Lotions Feature Açai, a Sustainable Rain Forest Berry Rich in Antioxidant Benefits
Levlad, Inc., maker of Nature’s Gate® Organics, has launched a groundbreaking line of certified organic body lotions, Rainwater™ Organics (www.natures-gate.com). The exceptionally pure lotions bear the USDA Organic seal, conferred only on products that contain 95% or more certified organic ingredient content, excluding water. They are manufactured at Levlad’s newly certified Chatsworth, California plant. The facility underwent a number of modifications, including the creation of specific storage and handling areas for certified organic ingredients, the development of special sanitization procedures for organic production lines, as well as other changes, making Levlad one of the few personal care manufacturing facilities in the country with the ability to manufacture products in accordance with the stringent requirements of USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP).
From exotic Lemongrass Spice and Bergamot Patchouli, to refreshing Citrus Ginger and Orange Zest Mint, each Nature’s Gate Rainwater Organics lotion features Açai oil, a sustainable rain forest botanical rich in antioxidant benefits. Purple Açai berries, grown on a species of palm known in the Amazon as the “tree of life, are also rich in Vitamins C, B, E and A.”
The list of what isn’t in the products is just as compelling as what is in them. The lotions are free of petrochemicals, parabens, artificial color, synthetic fragrance and phthalates.

In order to display the USDA seal, personal care products must meet the same stringent National Organic Program standards as those imposed upon organic food products. Ingredients must be grown, raised, harvested and processed without the use of synthetics, irradiation, chemicals, preservatives, genetically modified organisms and pesticides. Thus, the bar is raised for growers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
